Dependent Online Enrollment Periods

Dependents must be enrolled for coverage during each open enrollment period. Please make note of these timeframes below.

Fall - 05/08/2025 - 08/15/2025

Spring (New Incoming and Returning Students) - 12/02/2025 - 01/07/2026

Online Enrollment

If you do not want the Student Health Insurance Plan, you must decline or opt-out of coverage by submitting a waiver. You may only opt-out of coverage during the following Waiver Periods:

BFA/MFA Students Fall - 05/01/2025 - 08/01/2025

BFA/MFA Students Spring - 12/02/2025 - 01/16/2026

BFA and MFA Students Waiver Eligibility

All Otis College students are required to have health insurance and are automatically enrolled on the student health insurance plan (SHIP). Students with health insurance coverage that meets the College's requirements may waive out of the plan by completing an online waiver. All waivers must be completed online by the waiver deadline. Please have an electronic copy of your health insurance ID card and your Otis College student ID number ready.

Alternate Health Insurance Requirements:

• Active medical coverage.
• Medical coverage must provide coverage in the Los Angeles, CA area. Regional HMOs and state funded insurance plan outside of CA may not meet the requirement.
• Healthcare Sharing plans, Short-Term coverage plans, Financial Assistance plans, Travel plans or plans that require payment for treatment and application for reimbursement are not accepted.

*If requirements are not met, you will be automatically enrolled in SHIP.
